Finally Piece 2

9_26 warm up

Just another 1 hour warm up. I think these are really helping me a lot. 

Sand bags finished

I just did a little bit of adjustments but I believe this piece is done! Alriiiiighhtt!! I said these looked like dumplings earlier but I think now more like raviolis.  

Quk color up

I decided that I wanted to start these colors today. The top Pan piece was going to be a daylight piece but since I have so many daylight pieces I decided to make it evening. 

 In starting both of these I'm just getting my feet wet and coming up with a plan on how I should attack them.

for this sky pipes shot this was the ideal placing of the character (wont say his name because of tags through google). I may try another placing if I have time.

Train Station update

I decided that for today I wanted to get 75% of this shot done. I think it's about 75% but I'm going to step away from it for a minute. I think I'm getting some new techniques down too and just utilizing layers and starting of with simple shapes more. I feel that speed is the goal. What I mean by this is not rushing through the work or giving a presence of speed, but by using my mind to figure out how to complete this piece the smartest way and in a time frame yet maintain quality. It feels like it's not just drawing but teching ... not a real word to you but it works for me.

9_25 1 hour warm up

I was given some great advice by my mother who is rooting for me 100% (thanks Mam) Said I should start out with something small before taking on the big paintings. So I decided that I should start doing quick warm up pieces. So here's my first one. Was really fun. 

Air Temple up1

Working on the rendering of Air Temple. Going to let it rest for a minute and jump to the next. But I'm happy with the starting results. Since I have so many to get done by a certain date I have to max on productivity and not loiter. Ok whats next.

More work and a plan

Alright, got some more places here to use for the portfolio and I also have a more clearer idea of how I want to present this portfolio. I've always wanted to make a reel for this portfolio so that's my main plan. And in the way that the reel will flow, meaning from scene to scene or artwork to artwork, has given me a structure as to what I need and would think would be good to share. I want half of the reel to be places that are already established in the world of Korra and the other half to be concepted places from my own head. So I'm working on a format of all that I need and would like and what I can discard.

just a thought ...

I think also when I draw something first then scan it in I really don't have to think of the structure that much and can concentrate on the lighting and colors and feeling. oohhh I think this is good!

Lets Draw

So Instead of trying to just go straight digital, I want to use my favorite tools first, pencil and paper. I just love the feeling I get when I'm drawing on paper.

When starting this design I began to go back in time to my fifth grade days. I remember one weekend drawing a huge futuristic city. I was inspired by a game I was playing at the moment Turtles in Time on the SNES. And I also think I just learned some perspective drawing too. I remember being so excited that for show and tell I showed my class. I don't think they cared as much as I did but I knew that I had something great. 

So now I'm going to use some more of that young spirit and there are just so many things I want to draw and set up for this portfolio. I can see it and my goal is for others to see it too.

Man! these buildings! ... and updates

Trying to get the Korra style buildings down. what I think is that I'm having a bit trouble with the designs, perspective, and just the Korra feel. ... I'll continue to study and learn till I can get the right feel down.

Got to get up in 2 n 1/2 hours I think we will call it a day.

Time to Make some changes

It has to be spot ON! I can hear the BG director saying "what is this, this doesn't look like the park at all!" So I have to make sure that this work is spot on the style and way of the show. I need to use my creative skills by just re-creating to the T ... The Journey continues! 

Finally piece pt1

Oh yes! this is the piece I'm setting up for the finally! It looks like nothing right now but Just give it an ounce of patience and hard work with a dash of creativity and vision. Then this cake is going to come out just right, or better yet outstanding! ohh yeaahhh.

I made the shot wider from the original. I needed more wide shots and thought that with this one I could accomplish a great feel of space with this. 

This could be like an earth tribe like ruins. I didn't have any shots like this and I want to play with some nice lighting and grit with this. Oh and also a cool atmosphere. 

Another park piece. I really pushed it in one direction and now I have to balance it out. I'll let the ideas marinate wile I work on other pieces. 

We needed some Republic Night shots. And I have to say I love how Republic city looks at night and how the city lights refract off of the clouds and just smothers the city in this orange haze. ahh so beautiful. So here we will try and get the same feel.

Oh yes!! so we've got some work to do!! I have an outline of the pieces that I would like to have complete by a certain date so that I can send them and hopefully get this gig! I really like whats happening here and Just want to express the variety that I have. I can't wait to see thse pieces finished but let patience have it's perfect work so that these are the best that they can be. Alright!! onward.

So those biuldings I was working on earlier I decided to give them another go. I just decided to pull back and have at it. Since it's just me trying to make some good pieces I didn't worry about what I had before and just began to play some more. I like whats happening. Still I feel isn't on the mark as the world of Korra but will do my best and keep studying. 

Park Play 2

So I'm having fun in the park! I think my next step that I will take is pulling back out and establishing more of the light and maybe shadows too. Then I will probably throw in some LAWS and advance on what we have.
